Jim Maris’ unique signature sound has evolved over many years of playing. Starting at around four years of age
on the family piano, he was fascinated by the challenge of picking out familiar tunes. Today, his music can be
heard in a wide variety of places, from weddings and funeral parlors to business gatherings, political rallies and
church meetings.

His gentle, upbeat style contains elements of improvisational jazz interspersed with folk rock, and mainstream
gospel. The annual Veterans Day event, Ronald Regan BBQ, McHenry Museum, and the DoubleTree hotel lobby
are some of the places you can hear Jim play.

A skilled sound technician as well as musician, he has been able to craft his own recordings. “Coming Home” is a
tribute to the time we all look forward to at the end of the work day, and is an instrumental experiment in live drums,
played by Kevin Pallotta, interlaced with Jim’s tripping little jazz melodies. “Starlight Starbright” on this recording
has been requested by numerous brides for the wedding processional. Also in this collection is an original piece
with lyrics by Jim’s wife Amy, entitled “Your Smile” and sung by rising singer-songwriter, Roem Baur, which was
inspired by the tragic death of Laci Peterson .

More artistic mood setter than showman, Jim’s musical goal is to create an atmosphere of elegant harmony to
enhance any special event.
